Our Story
Here at South Coast Makers, we like to showcase the best of the local creativity and indie businesses from the South Coast of England.
From our humble beginnings as a makers market in our hometown of Bournemouth to our permanent shop in the centre of town at Bobby's Emporium, we have strived to champion indie businesses over the past 8 years.
Since launching in 2018, we’ve worked closely with Dorset makers to curate thoughtful collections, host community-led markets and create welcoming spaces — both online and in person — where local and UK creativity can thrive.
OUR PURPOSE
let the creativity shine from the South Coast of England
Meet our founders
South Coast Makers was created by Jo and Adam in 2018 to support independent makers and bring their work to a wider local audience.
This is Jo who has spent the past 25 years working as a maker.
She first started selling her work in Queenstown Arts Market, NZ in the early 00's and over the years has run creative workshops in various locations including Glastonbury, Camp Bestival and Green Man Festivals, House of Vans, Top Drawer tradeshow as well as supplying 100 independent retailers throughout the UK and Ireland with her own designs.
Jo understands the challenges of running a creative business whilst Adam looks after the logistics and behind-the-scenes details, making sure pop up events and the store run smoothly.
